Each fall, the Mammoth High School Senior Class comes together for one of the most
deliciously anticipated events of the year — the Senior Dinners at Toomey’s.
What began as a simple fundraiser has grown into a beloved community tradition, uniting students, families, and local businesses in support of Mammoth’s graduating class.

The 2025 fall senior dinners were remarkable: four nights of dinners, three seating times, and to-go orders that kept Toomey’s bustling with energy.
In total, the event raised $47,734, with a take-home amount of $29,000 after expenses — including over $11,000 in direct donations and an additional $2,702 from the 75/25 raffle ( with the winner taking home $675.50).
🍽️ Community at the Core
At the heart of the event is Matt Toomey, owner of Toomey’s restaurant (and volunteer MHS Baseball coach), and his dedicated staff. For twelve years, they’ve opened their doors — and their hearts — to Mammoth’s seniors.
“For the last 12 years, our entire staff has been honored to serve our community, and especially the seniors of Mammoth High School,” said Toomey. “Nothing feels better than contributing, and the seniors are so great to work with. We look forward to taking part in this event every year.”

Toomey even creates a special menu for the senior dinners, featuring his famous prime rib, a secret-menu item reserved only for special occasions. The community looks forward to this event each year for the fabulous food, but also for what it represents — Mammoth’s spirit of generosity and togetherness.

💛 A Team Effort
This year’s participation was exceptional:
72 of 79 seniors sold tickets, including standout sellers Tenaya Koegler (39 tickets), Esme Carrillo (36), Heriberto Rios (35), and Corina Jimenez (34).
63 seniors worked dinner shifts, covering 72 volunteer spots — with several students working multiple nights to ensure everything ran smoothly.
Behind the scenes, the dedicated senior advisor, Wendy Muenier, and Toomey’s hardworking team kept the operation running seamlessly across all four nights — proof that small-town collaboration makes big things possible.

🎓 Why Senior Dinners Matter
The events and experiences funded by the senior dinners aren’t just about celebration — they’re about inclusion. The money raised ensures every student can participate in senior year mileston events, regardless of financial circumstance. The success of fundraisers like the Toomey’s dinners keeps the senior year accessible and memorable for all.
“Every Mammoth High senior class takes on the huge task of raising $60,000 to $80,000 to make their senior year experiences possible,” says senior class advisor Wendy Muenier. “That money covers everything — from Senior Sunrise and Sunset to Homecoming hall decorating, class photos, and graduation. While most of the funds go toward the Senior Trip, they also make cherished traditions like Point Break, Senior Walk, and Cap & Gown photos at Vons happen. These events bring our students together, create lasting memories, and reflect what’s so special about the Mammoth community — everyone working together to make sure every student can take part.”
According to Ms. Muenier, this year’s class has added new events — including the 100 Days to Graduation Breakfast and a Senior Welcome at Woolly’s Adventure Park (generously donated this year by Mammoth Mountain). Two new fundraisers were also introduced, adding fresh momentum to the class’s financial efforts.
🌟 More Than a Meal
The Toomey’s Senior Dinners are a just one example of what makes Mammoth special: a community that shows up, gives back, and takes pride in seeing our students succeed. The dinners embody the best of what local businesses, dedicated student & faculty, and families can accomplish together — creating not just a meal, but memories and opportunities that last long after graduation.
As the seniors look ahead to their final months at MHS, they will remember the events and experiences that Matt Toomey's senior dinners made possible — proof that when our little Town of Mammoth comes together, incredible things happen.
