Once again, the Interact Club at Mammoth High School demonstrated the power of student leadership and global compassion by participating in the Operation Christmas Child gift-box program — a meaningful holiday tradition that connects local students with children in need around the world.
Led by advisor Peggy Armenta and senior student leader Sophia Geffres, the Interact Club partnered with Debbie Todd, a volunteer leader with the Eastern Sierra chapter of the program, to assemble and pack more than 20 gift boxes destined for children across the globe.

Each box was thoughtfully filled with essential items such as toothbrushes, hairbrushes, pencils, and crayons — along with small toys and surprises chosen to bring joy and a sense of celebration. For many recipients, these boxes represent not only practical necessities, but also the experience of receiving a gift during the holiday season.
Students were enthusiastic about the opportunity to participate, recognizing that service extends beyond their own community. Through this project, Mammoth High students gained a deeper understanding of global needs and the impact that small acts of kindness can have far beyond local borders.
The Interact Club’s continued involvement in Operation Christmas Child reflects a strong commitment to service, empathy, and leadership — values that are central to both the club and the Mammoth High School community. Projects like this remind us that while the holidays are often centered close to home, their spirit can reach across continents.
This annual effort is a meaningful example of how Mammoth High students are learning to lead with compassion and make a difference — locally and around the world.
